When Deborah first sat down with the pastor, the request was simple a website design. But as we talked, it became clear the real issue was deeper. The church wanted to scale, but they didn’t have a strategy, a brand voice, or a clear way to reach their audience. Their identity had been the same for over 10 years, and it wasn’t helping them grow.
That’s when the project shifted into a full rebrand. we redesigned their logo, giving them a modern and meaningful look that aligned with their mission. They approved the very first concept with no revisions needed. From there, we built out a full brand identity and strategy, giving them clarity on their voice, values, and visual direction. we also designed their marketing materials and designed a website that tied everything together. By the end, the church had more than just a new look they had a strategy and a structure to confidently connect with their community and grow.
For a brand with 10+ years of history, Victory in Jesus Church first approached us for a website design, but it quickly became clear their deeper need was strategy and brand identity. They wanted to scale and reach more people, but without a defined brand voice or structure, they struggled to connect with their community in a meaningful way. The goal became not just creating a website, but building a strong foundation through a complete rebrand.
Lets take a look at what was wrong with the logo...
See how we fixed this logo instead...
Lets dive deeper
The original logo contained multiple symbolic elements that communicated the church's faith and heritage but suffered from visual complexity, limited scalability, weak hierarchy, and an outdated design style.
Too many visual elements compete for attention, making the logo feel busy and difficult to process.
Lack of Distinctiveness
There was a mix of pictures and illustrations making it uncombined.
Visual Inconsistency
Unclear Positioning
The brand stood for authority whilst the logo was too soft, friendly and lacked simplicity
Too many visual elements compete for attention, making the logo feel busy and difficult to process.
Complexity & Clutter
The detailed artwork loses clarity and legibility when used at smaller sizes.
Scalability
Outdated Style
Heavy gradients and realistic illustrations give the logo a dated appearance.
Project Design Process and design choices
Our redesign focused on simplifying the visual language, improving recognition, creating a stronger standalone brand mark, and positioning the church as both authoritative and relevant for modern audiences while preserving its core Christian identity.
We redesigned the wheat to be geometrically squared instead of rounded to support the brand authoritative, modern and classy look.
We made this mark to symbolize both community and a crownThis mark but added gentle curves on it for a friendly approachable feeling.
Making this the sign that would be the face or the brands.
This mark symbolizes two things
1.The city (of Toronto) this is why the heights are imbalanced it makes it look like buildings
2. It represents each of the 4 brand target audience by colour bringing them all to christ despite the different paths they are on
Individuals
Youth
Kids
We simplified the bible and the dove to give off a modern feeling to connect better to the modern day audience.
Families
We went with serif font instead to add authority to the brands image and overall feel

This color Introduces gentleness.
This colour unifies the pallet, ensuring that the branding doesn’t feel overwhelming or too chaotic, instead of a generic standard white we went with an off white option to make then stand out from competitors.
The deep mature gold adds a sense of joy and celebration to the composition.
A reliable, trusted and reassuring colour that adds a vibrant bold feeling.

Behind font choices
Using the right typography for each brand is crucial because it sets the tone. These fonts have been chosen to pair perfectly with each other as well as your brand identity. Having different sets of fonts allows for the design to not be repetitive. By using consistent typography across your brand will make you recognizable and memorable.
A bold serif has been used to embody authoritative power and dominance. This shines out that part of the key components of the brands identity that is to look authoritative.
This medium sized sans-serif font helps bring balance into the overall font combination. This falls into a much more softer side which is perfect to display friendliness while still preserving the brands authoritative voice.

Brochure & Business card design
In addition to the logo rebrand, we redesigned Victory in Jesus's brochures and business cards building out print materials that matched the new brand direction in every detail. Typography, layout, color, finish nothing was left to chance.
Every piece was crafted to feel like it belonged to the same family, so whether someone picked up a brochure or received a business card, the experience of the brand stayed consistent and intentional.
