After discussing with the founders, Rebecca and Robinson, and reviewing their reference images, Deborah conducted a deeper market research into the dance industry, competitors, brand persona and the christian faith to make the brand stand out. She created a mood board to define the brand’s direction and aesthetic which instantly got a yes from the founders. Then she presented the first sketches, this also immediately clicked with the founders, requiring no revisions. The final design and identity resulted in a bold and confident brand identity that immediately felt like “home” for Jehoyah. it communicated fierceness, movement, and devotion, laying a strong foundation for future applications across apparel, digital, and events. Remarkably this project required no to very little revisions from start to finish

Brand Discovery
Jehoyah’s in Alberta. They approached Ryd with a vision to create an awe striking Christian dance brand that dominates the dance industry while glorifying God through movement. The goal was to build a strong visual identity that embodies an athletic yet majestic look, a presence that feels fierce, powerful, inspiring, all while reflecting their core belief in dancing with all their might with no limitations, just as David danced before the Lord in the Bible. The challenge was to translate this vision into a brand identity that balances faith, athleticism, and cultural impact, setting the stage for Jehoyah to stand out in a competitive industry.

Project Design Process
The upward flow of the wordmark follows the Gestalt principle of continuity, visually rising to represent freedom, growth, and movement without limitation. This reflects the brands vision of dancing beyond boundaries.
The roaring lion and scratch marks were integrated to emphasize the brand’s fierce and fearless character. These elements symbolize boldness, intimidation, and competitive energy qualities that reflect the brand’s determination to dominate the dance space.

Asset #2
Asset #1
For the pattern design, we drew inspiration from the lion's claws. On their own, claws embody intimidation, fierceness, and raw power.
Small in size impactful, this made it the perfect element to weave into the brand's pattern, a detail that speaks quietly but carries the full weight of Jehoyah's personality.

Behind font choices
Alignment with brand
Every font chosen for Jehoyah was carefully aligned with the brand's personality, each one serving a distinct purpose. For the logo, the direction was to find a typeface that felt ancient and rooted in Hebrew and Arabic history we landed on Kohelet. Visually it captured everything we were after, but what made it truly special was its meaning. Kohelet is the Hebrew title of the Book of Ecclesiastes, meaning to gather, to preach, and to teach in the wisdom of God.
That meaning reflected everything Jehoyah stood for, because this wasn't just a dance brand it was a declaration. Built on the belief that if David danced before the Lord with all his might, who are we not to? Every typographic choice carried that same spirit, ancient in its roots, faithful in its meaning, and bold enough to hold the weight of what the brand was truly saying.
Logo font
Kohelet is a Hebrew word meaning "Preacher" or "Teacher" someone who gathers people and pours wisdom into them. It comes from the Book of Ecclesiastes, a book that emphasizes how everything in life is meaningless without Christ. A message built on faith, meaning, and purpose. This made Kohelet the perfect font for Jehovah not just because of how it looked, but because of what it stood for. It reflected the brand's beliefs right down to its name.
